CCSU Dining Receives a $1,000 Grant for On-Campus Food Pantry, Maria’s Place

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has awarded a one-time $1,000 grant to Central Connecticut State University’s on-campus food pantry, Maria’s Place. Maria’s Place is a free service to all CCSU Students, Faculty & Staff who are in need of food assistance. The Food Pantry is an initiative of the Newman House at Central Connecticut State University, and is in collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement, Campus of Compassion and the Food Pantry Committee.

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation is part of the “Better Tomorrow” initiative to end hunger. The non-profit foundation was created in 1999 and initiates the commitment to fighting hunger and ensuring that every child in the United States has access to nutritious food.

The influence that Maria’s Place has on the Central Connecticut State University community is very positive, and we are grateful that the $1,000 grant will have a large impact on those who utilize the pantry. Being the dining service, we make it a point to ensure that each CCSU community member has a nutritious and satisfying meal, so we are joyed that we as a part of Sodexo are able to gift this generosity to Maria’s Pantry.

Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation is helping to fund 80 backpack food programs and 15 on-campus food pantries among communities across the United States.

  1. This. This is fantastic! Kindness. Compassion. I love it.

I don’t know if your company has looked into http://www.swipehunger.org or not, but it seems like another excellent way to help the student community. I just recently learned about the program from a friend. I know my son, for example, had at least 4 visitor “swipes” at the end of last semester remaining. If he could have donated those to a fellow student, I know that he would. Just a thought.
