As part of Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow commitments, the Stop Hunger program mobilizes entire Sodexo communities to join forces and make a difference to end hunger. Every April, Sodexo holds an event called Servathon, which is our global fight to end hunger within our local community. Representing Central Connecticut State University and being a part of Sodexo, we wanted to put forward our best efforts in order to help fight hunger within our local community.
During April, all CCSU Dining Services employees were able to donate perishable goods, which were collected and given to Maria’s Place, the on-campus food pantry. In the end, we donated five boxes of food in one week!
Aside from our donations, we also went a step further and volunteered our time! On Wednesday, April 26th, our kitchen staff prepared a Pot Roast dinner for us to serve at the New Britain Salvation Army. A handful of our office staff along with a student intern packed up the meal and served dinner for the night! We were more than thankful to have the opportunity to give back to our community and look forward to doing it again in the future!
