It’s time to introduce Jon Small, the General Manager for CCSU Dining! We asked Jon a few questions about his career, as well as his personal life, so keep reading to learn more about him!
Jon has been with Sodexo for twenty-five years, and three of those years have been spent with us at Central. His favorite part of being the General Manger here is anything that involves contact with the students. He also enjoys presenting themed and specialty meals for the students in the dining halls.
Jon’s favorite type of cuisine is Japanese because it’s a food that he wouldn’t cook for himself. As for his favorite meal of the day, it’s dessert because life’s too short!
We asked Jon to tell us one person that he would have dinner with, but he gave us two and set up the whole restaurant staff! If he could have dinner with anyone that is alive, it would be Michelle Obama, with Ellen DeGeneres in disguise serving him a meal that Gordon Ramsay prepared. If he could have dinner with anyone in the world who has passed, it would be his Grandmother Small because she is the person who sparked his interest in cooking and entertaining, and she was the best cook that he’s ever met!
When Jon isn’t at work, he enjoys making maple syrup with his twin brother in his back yard. One last thing that you should know about Jon is that his dog Shelby makes him laugh every single day!
Check back every Wednesday throughout the summer to meet more of the CCSU management and office staff!
